Although this image was rather hard to rhetorically analyze, I will do my best to take a stab at it. When viewing the picture I can immediately tell that the audience is UT students which are attending school and have a interests in music and entertainment. The ad is portrayed in a very cultural tone. It is in a modern language which appeals more to the youth. The picture of the man which, when transferring the image to paint in order to zoom in, appears to be holding a alcoholic beverage, makes the use of this disc exchange seem cool to college students. In that since it makes a movement of pathos through the way it appeals to our longing to be cool and accepted. The way the word "hookup" is used reinforces the cultural tones behind the image, helping to appeal to college students. The purpose of the picture is to persuade college students that it is beneficial to use their service for all their entertainment needs. Although i feel that there is a major need for music in someone's life and music is very relaxing in a sometimes hectic enviornment, I do not feel the image is rhetorically effective due to the lack of importance of the man in ad. It is kinda random and the guy has no real purpose therefore being a distraction.Tuesday, September 9, 2008
